YOUR IMPACT IN 2017 VANCOUVER
SALVATION ARMY $54,200
To help reduce barriers to addiction treatment,
HHTH will fund the Vancouver Harbour Light
Facility. The Salvation Army has provided this
program for nearly 150 years and its purpose is
to eliminate the impact of addictions on the those
who have spiraled into homelessness.
HARBOUR LIGHT ($35,000)
STORAGE LOCKERS ($15,000)
Your funds will be used to fund the installation of
storage lockers at the Belkin House Emergency
Shelter. Those in need can use this facility and bring
their personal belongings into the shelter and have
them locked in their own storage, safe and sound.
COMMUNITY KITCHEN ($4,200)
Funds raised will be used to purchase community
kitchen furniture. By providing these items, it will
improve the facility and attempt to address the
needs of clients and staff and further enhance the
effectiveness and functionality.
FIRST UNITED CHURCH $55,000
Your funding will build program sustainability to
continue the storage facility services. Having a
secure place to keep their belongings gives people
the ability to access services, address their health
concerns, seek apartments, and go to work. It is a
low cost transformative service for people in need.
CART STORAGE FACILITY ($30,000)
COMMUNITY HELP DESK ($20,000)
HHTH’s grant in 2016 enabled the construction
of the Help Desk and since the completion of
renovations in 2018, they have a larger accessible
space for community members to access dropin
services. Your funding this year will support
the development of increased safety for staff,
volunteers, and community members in the drop
in areas and improve their ability to serve the 500
community members.
Your donations will help First United process the
tax returns of up to 4,000 low-income people
who are either homeless or precariously housed.
Staying up-to-date on taxes is critical for rebuilding
credit, receiving CPP & other benefits, and gaining
access to many shelters. For those reasons, the tax
program is a potential path out of homelessness.
LOOKOUT HOUSING AND
HEALTH SOCIETY $53,500
Your funds will provide the commercial kitchen
equipment needed for the Russell Housing
Centre to prepare meals in-house to provide
up to 140 nutritious meals daily to vulnerable
people. A new kitchen would create a space that
is practical and enjoyable for staff, volunteers,
and tenants to participate in creating delicious
healthy and cost effective meals to the those
who visit the shelter.
LAST DOOR RECOVERY
SOCIETY $50,000
Because of you, HHTH will be able to pay for
the treatments of youth for approximately 5
months. They specialize in the quality residential
in-patient Adolescent Addiction Treatment for
male youths from 14 to 18 years of age in the
Vancouver and New Westminster area.
TAX PROGRAM ($5,000)
URBAN NATIVE YOUTH
ASSOCIATION $62,500
Your support will maximize the programming
opportunities for the AYF Program through the
hiring of staff. By doing this, it increases the
capacity to reach out and engage Native youth
who are homeless, or are at risk of becoming
homelessness. AYF team members provide an
essential first point of contact for youth that are
most affected by homelessness, helping link
them to the diverse supports available at UNYA
and the community.
BLOOM GROUP $40,000
With HHTH’s help, Bloom Group will be able
to renovate the 4th floor community kitchen
at Springhouse to create a more inclusive and
accessible space which 10 families can share.
HHTH will replace a fridge, dishwasher, and
stove with more efficient and space saving
models. The kitchen will be remodelled and a
new food storage area will be created.
COMMUNITY KITCHEN ($25,000)
FAMILY PROGRAM ($15,000)
HHTH will help fund the Springhouse Family
Program where fun outings and activities are
organized to help children at Springhouse have
a healthy and positive experience at a time of
significant change and transition in their lives.
Unlike traditional day camps, their mothers are
encouraged to participate and have fun which
strengthens the bonds between them.
COVENANT HOUSE $60,000
HHTH’s gift will help support five additional
beds, helping to alleviate the current issues
of turnaways. Each young person will have
24-hour residential care, including access to
mental health clinicians, housing, education,
employment and addictions support.
FIVE ADDITIONAL BEDS ($45,000)
STREET OUTREACH ($15,000)
Your donations will support the direct program
costs of the Street Outreach Program and will
enable their team to make 95 contacts with
at-risk youth, which provides the preliminary
foundation needed to build trust. This will allow
them to receive the care that they need to leave
the streets behind.
WESTMINSTER HOUSE $39,500
With your help, Westminster House is able to
pay for facility upgrades and support families
to pay for treatment at their new female youth
treatment centre. The program provides women
with the tools they need to trust their own ability
to reclaim a drug-free existence.

week and pay for a food security study to ensure
sustainability of their program.
