Busy busy month at Interventions on Demand.
I am always impressed when families know it’s time to have the conversation no matter what fears that can stand in the way . One of the great gifts of introducing recovery to families is their ability to face fears and do it anyway because they know if they don’t , the feelings are there anyway not knowing what each day addiction brings.
I was talking to mom who decided it was time to get help and she was feeling hopeless and not knowing at her age that she could change , I was able to share my story with her that I got clean and sober at the age of 36 and also felt the same way but what I shared with her is that life has a whole lot more for us to learn and how cool is it that the things that we love can benefit from our decision. She lit up with hope that recovery is possible .
I am committed today to always share my own personal experience whether it’s intervening on a 17-year-old boy who doesn’t think it’s a big deal to use drugs to the elder adult who feels like why change now.
We have a great team and Interventions on Demand and pride ourselves doing the best we can.
I do believe this year there’s more awareness and knowledge and recovery is possible, you just have to want it.
